This presentation introduces learners to the foundational principles of emotional intelligence and highlight its critical importance in leadership. The session will begin with an overview of key domains of emotional intelligence, followed by a discussion of why EI skills are vital for effective communication, team building, conflict management, and organizational leadership in healthcare settings. Practical strategies for enhancing emotional intelligence will be provided, alongside real-world examples illustrating the application of EI in common challenges. Learners will be guided through brief reflective exercises to assess their emotional intelligence and develop personalized strategies for growth.

Mace Hamblin Bio:

I am an educator, health and wellness coach, and consultant with over two decades of experience in higher education. Since 2005, I have taught and led at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including a decade of teaching doctoral students in online learning environments. I hold a doctorate in Health Science with an emphasis in Leadership and Organizational Behavior. I am a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach, with additional certifications in nutrition, sleep, stress management, and recovery.

My leadership expertise is rooted in my 11 years of experience directing teams within graduate clinical education. This work has sharpened my skills in building and sustaining strong relationships, developing and mentoring team members, managing conflict, and driving effective decision-making. I am also a certified consultant in emotional intelligence using the Emotional Quotient Inventory 2.0 (EQ-i 2.0), and I have assessed and coached hundreds of individuals, including students, faculty, and administrators, in developing their emotional intelligence.
